For a decade, the BFA Dance program at Alabama State University has been a hub of dance creativity, nurturing exceptional talent, and fostering an unwavering commitment to artistic exploration. "Evolve" is a tribute to the program's growth and a celebration of its ongoing transformation.

The concert will showcase an eclectic range of choreographic works, demonstrating the versatility and mastery of ASU's dance students. Featuring choreography by the program's founding professors, James R. Atkinson, Jr., Michael Medcalf, and the late Kevin T. Grant.  Along with additional works  by Morgan Jackson, Rodni Williams, Jason Aryah, and guest artist Obadiah  Wright, "Evolve" promises an enchanting experience for audiences of all backgrounds.

Costumes, meticulously designed by Anton Fleeton, will complement the artistry on stage, while lighting, expertly crafted by Thomas Rodman, will enhance the visual spectacle. The auditory journey will be curated by Charles Moncrieft, ensuring a sonic landscape that resonates with the soul.

Department of Theatre and Dance, Chair Brain Martin  and James R. Atkinson, Jr., Director of Dance, expressed their excitement, stating, "This 10th-Anniversary Celebration is a testament to the dedication and talent of our students and faculty. 'Evolve' will be an enthralling journey through the evolution of dance, showcasing the incredible artistry and creativity that ASU's BFA Dance program has to offer."

In addition to the evening performances, "Evolve" will also feature special school show performances on October 17th, 18th, and 19th, 2023, at 9:30 am. These morning shows provide students with a unique opportunity to engage with the art of dance in an educational and inspiring context.
