Carmina Burana & Repertory – BFA Dance Spring Concert 2025
Montgomery, AL – Alabama State University’s Department of Theatre & Dance proudly presents Carl Orff’s spectacular Carmina Burana ballet as the centerpiece of its 2025 Spring Concert. Based on 13th-century songs and poems, Orff’s iconic cantata will be performed for the first time by ASU’s BFA Dance Program, making history as the first known HBCU performance of Carmina Burana and the first ballet production of its kind featuring an all-Black cast.
The versatility and artistry of ASU’s faculty and students are on full display in this landmark event. The second half of the concert features Carmina Burana, while the first half offers an exciting array of original choreography from ASU’s distinguished dance faculty—James R. Atkinson, Jr., Morgan A.
