Montgomery, AL — July 21, 2024, ASU BFA Dance proudly announces its inaugural BFA Summer Dance Intensive, "Cultivating Artistry Technique (CDAT)", a transformative one-week program aimed at providing pre-professional dance training and performance opportunities for students aged 12 to 21.
The ASU BFA Summer Dance Intensive aims to enrich participants' confidence, knowledge, and self-esteem through a diverse curriculum encompassing classical ballet, modern dance, hip hop, African dance, and repertoire studies. The program culminates in an inspiring showcase performance on July 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Tickets are available with a suggested donation of $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for students.
The mission of the ASU BFA Summer Dance Intensive is to educate youth on various dance styles, their historical significance, and performance skills within a supportive and encouraging environment. By fostering self-expression and creativity, the program aims to empower young dancers to reach their full artistic potential.
Students hailing from various regions across the United States have gathered together, united by their passion for dance and the shared goal of experiencing and harnessing its transformative power. This diverse assembly of young dancers brings a rich tapestry of backgrounds and perspectives, enriching the learning environment and fostering collaboration and cultural exchange throughout the ASU BFA Summer Dance Intensive.
This performance at the ASU BFA Summer Dance Intensive will showcase a captivating blend of choreography crafted by its esteemed artistic staff and talented students. By choreographers Mr. James R. Atkinson, Jr (Classical Ballet), Jaela Deadrick (Modern), Morgan Jackson (Jazz), Guest Artist Eryn Cade (Hip-Hop), Donovan McFadden(Modern), and Isaac Vilbrun (African) have infused their expertise and creativity into the repertoire. In addition to these dynamic pieces, students have also contributed their own choreographic works, adding a fresh and innovative perspective to the performance. This collaborative effort promises to deliver a diverse and vibrant showcase of dance styles, reflecting the dedication and artistry cultivated throughout the intensive training program.
